A guide to choosing a good sampling trolley Purchasing a sampling trolley is a big deal. It is an important tool for the ergonomics and comfort of the sampler. The sampling trolley is in continuous use, and it should last for years. There are many types of users, and purchasing the right type of sampling trolley can seem surprisingly challenging. What all should be taken into account when purchasing a sampling trolley? We put together some tips for choosing a suitable sampling trolley. Map the need for use and the space where the sampling trolley will be placed When the purchase of a new sampling trolley becomes relevant, the first thing to consider is which space and what kind of need the trolley will be purchased for. If a lot of blood samples are taken at the sampling point during the day, it is good to emphasize a spacious and efficient solution when purchasing a sampling cart. For large sampling needs, the Keisi-phlebotomy cart or the Husky-phlebotomy cart equipped with a big tube shelf are functional solutions. The big tube shelf can hold up to eight tube packages, which speeds up the filling of the cart considerably. The tubes can be used as complete packages, so you don’t have to waste time moving the tubes from a storage to the cart. If you prefer an open space where all supplies are conveniently within arm’s reach, the Keisi-phlebotomy cart is the right option for you. If you want to emphasize customer orientation and hide most of the supplies, the Husky-phlebotomy cart is a good choice for your needs. There are several different models of Keisi and Husky carts, so the sampling carts can be tailored exactly to your needs. Keisi- and Husky-phlebotomy carts are designed to be compact in size, but are slightly bigger than the following options. If the sampling rooms are particularly cramped and the sampling needs are small, we have a small and easily mobile Oiva-sampling trolley in our selection. The Oiva-sampling trolley is used a lot on ward rounds, but due to its adaptability, it is also well suited for a fixed sampling point. In terms of size, the Onni sampling furniture consisting of two carts is placed between Keisi, Husky and Oiva. If the sampling premises are small and customer orientation is important, the Onni-phlebotomy cart may be a suitable option for you. In addition, Onni sampling furniture supports the customer’s lean processes. One cart is for sampling supplies and one for waste containers. The carts are compact in size and the equipment is arranged in such a way that the operation is optimal in the sampling situation. The Onni-phlebotomy cart does not have the same storage possibilities compared to the Keisi- and Husky-phlebotomy carts. The idea of the Onni-sampling cart is that it fits all the necessary accessories, but it is not used as storage. Onni’s filling interval is more frequent compared to larger sampling wagons. Materials and ecology in the selection of a sampling trolley All our sampling trolleys are made of metal and aluminium. The cart is painted with antimicrobial powder coating which help combat the bacterial growth. Durable and recyclable materials are environmentally friendly and guarantee a long service life for our products. Cleanability The cleanability of a sampling trolley is of the utmost importance. Every corner of the trolley must be cleanable, and the materials must withstand strong cleaning and disinfecting agents. In the design of all the trolleys mentioned above, efforts have been made to take into account easy and effortless cleaning. Painted steel and aluminium surfaces are very resistant to decontaminating and cleaning agents. I hope the phlebotomy cart guide was helpful. We are also happy to help you personally in choosing the right sampling cart. If you need help, please contact us, for example via email info@innopart.fi or call +358 45 342 4641.
A guide to customizing a good ward trolley In hospitals, health centers, laboratories and other healthcare offices, a lot of movable furniture is needed for transporting equipment and supplies. The needs vary depending on the purpose of use, which is why we developed a trolley that can be completely modified according to different purposes. Below we have compiled examples of how the trolley can be equipped according to different needs. Cannulation trolley and wound care trolley For cannulation and wound care, the 60 mm and 100 mm trays of the Oiva-trolley are a functional solution. Especially with the 100 mm tray, the items needed for cannulation travel safely. In addition to the Oiva trolley, our selection includes a Saaga-ward trolley with two 100 mm trays. This trolley is slightly smaller than the Oiva-trolley. Saaga is a good option if the spaces are very small, and you need two 100 mm trays. A waste container, a clinical waste container and a bottle holder for either one or two bottles are most often used as additional equipment in the cannulation cart and wound care cart. Our selection includes a small 2-liter and large 10-liter waste bin. If you want to optimize the space, it is a good idea to order two racks for clinical waste containers. The second clinical waste container is left without a lid, so it works well as a paper waste container. Two clinical waste container racks fit side by side in front or behind the Oiva-ward trolley. In the Saaga-ward trolley, the racks fit side by side under the push handles. Accessory racks can be positioned around the tray of the Oiva- ward trolley and under the push handles. For the Saaga-ward trolley, the accessories are positioned under the push handles or on the sides of the tray. Please also familiarize yourself with the following accessories, which help to optimize the trolley for cannulation and wound care needs. Phlebotomy trolley In the design of the Oiva-ward trolley, attention has been paid to the changing needs of ward sampling. The Oiva-trolley is an excellent choice for laboratory department rotation. The sampling supplies take a lot of space, so it is good to have three trays in the trolley. Tubes and other accessories are lower compared to cannulation accessories. Therefore, 45 mm and 60 mm deep trays are a functional solution for sampling. Many accessories are needed in sampling carts. The top tray should be 60 mm, because the 45 mm deep tray does not have a rail on which accessory racks can be positioned. The most popular accessories are racks for the waste bin, clinical waste container, sampling stickers, and bottles of hand sanitizer and skin cleansers. If you want to optimize the space, it is a good idea to order two racks for clinical waste containers. The second clinical waste container is left without a lid, so it works well as a paper waste bin. As mobile sampling becomes more common, an additional level for a mobile printer, tube mixer and phone is an important accessory in a sampling cart. A tape roll holder, can be attached to the additional level, from which the tape can be conveniently cut. In addition, the 3-POD department stool and magnetic holder for the department stool are especially popular in sampling carts. The height-adjustable stool supports the ergonomic working position of the sampler and reduces the load on the back. In children’s sampling carts, it is good to consider the locker for newborn’s sampling cards, which is an excellent solution for the safe and reliable transport of newborn sampling cards from the department to the laboratory. Medicine distribution trolley 45 mm and 60 mm trays work well in the medicine distribution trolley. Dividable shelf boxes are available on top of the trays, which serve as an aid in the distribution of medicines. We recommend a silicone mat between the shelf boxes and the tray, which prevent the plastic boxes from rattling when moving the trolley. The most popular accessories for medicine trolley are racks for the waste bin, clinical waste container and a bottle of hand sanitizer. Our selection includes a small 2-liter and a large 10-liter waste bin. If you want to optimize the space, it is a good idea to order two racks for clinical waste containers. The second clinical waste container is left without a lid, so it works well as a paper waste bin. I hope the ward trolley guide was helpful. We are also happy to help personally with the customization of the ward trolley. If you need help, please contact us, for example via email info@innopart.fi or call +358 45 342 4641.
